Those looking for a surprise match have the chance to meet their new best friend through the Butler County Humane Society‘s “Luv Is Blind” program.

The new social media campaign, launched in early July on Facebook, lists the ‘dating profiles’ of six anonymous shelter animals – three dogs and three cats – and encourages potential adopters to make an appointment for a ‘blind date’ . If they end up loving the animal and choose to adopt, the adoption fee will be waived.

“If they make an appointment to meet one of these ‘blind’ animals, and if they are accepted and their application is approved, then it will be a free adoption,” said Alicia Terek, volunteer coordinator, marketing and events in human society.

The Butler County Humane Society is currently open by appointment only, Wednesday through Sunday. Those interested in meeting a pet “blind” can check out the shelter’s Facebook page or call 724-789-1150.
