(SAVANNE, GA) Forsyth Farmers Market launched a new fundraising campaign initiative for its Farm truck 912 program. Farm Truck 912 is a mobile farmers market program that brings fresh produce from local farmers to communities in Savannah, with a focus on food insecure neighborhoods. At a press conference on January 8, the organization announced plans to raise $ 150,000 to buy a new farm truck. Forsyth Farmers’ Market, as well as its Farm Truck 912 program which receives funding from REACH Grant (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health), is proud to be part of the 200 partners and community organizations that work with Healthy savannah and the Coastal Georgia YMCA to improve the health and well-being of our community through the REACH grant of $ 3.4 million over five years. Awarded by the Centers for Disaster Control and Prevention, funds are being deployed in Savannah / Chatham County to reduce health inequalities experienced by black residents in low-income neighborhoods and increase the availability of high-quality food, promote physical activity by creating better access to safe places to walk, run, cycle and play; and fostering stronger bonds between people and the health care providers who serve them.
