Downtown Thomasville’s semi-annual sidewalk sale keeps their small businesses alive

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) – Rose City! The annual semi-sidewalk sale is back.

Thomasville executives say if you want to get some of these best deals, you might want to start your Saturday morning early.

“The streets are packed for this event. People come to line up between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.,” said Thomasville special events manager Madison Eaton.

Eaton said there will be thousands of people from around the world at the sidewalk sale.

She also said it was a huge economic driver for their downtown.

“Almost all retailers in the Broad Street area, as well as East and West Jackson, are part of the street sale. So you can estimate that several thousand dollars are made from these events,” Eaton said.

This not only brings great discounts for customers, but they will get to see some of the brand new retail stock coming in.

Restaurants will also benefit from this event.

“People stay and they have lunch and they stay for dinner. Bring friends and family with them when they come to make it an overall hit,” Eaton said.

Now I’m pretty sure some people are wondering where to park their car during this event.

“You can go to our website Thomasville GA dot org and see a map of downtown. We have plenty of free parking, whether it’s on the street or in city-owned parking lots or in partnership with different people, there’s plenty of room to park,” Eaton said.

And regarding access to the toilets.

“We have the visitor center, which is located on East Jackson Street. We are located at the very end of the street, so keep walking every time you pass the store. We’re open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., so you can use those restrooms, as well as the Ritz Amphitheater bathrooms, which are very spacious and open to the public,” Eaton said.
