While Black Friday might be the busiest shopping occasion on the calendar, you’d be hard-pressed, or at least moderately pressured, to find a garage sale on that day. After all, the November occasion tends to be more about the shops than the outdoors.
And stumble upon a yard sale that has a strong panache for pets and a good-hearted spirit?
It’s much rarer.
And rarer still? When the Black Friday garage sale extends over the holiday weekend.
All of this should have the holidays screaming at the Best Friends Animal Society in Mission Hills from Friday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 27, thanks to the Black Friday Everything Gotta Go Garage Sale (for free).
How it works?
The free-free-free garage sale will give first-time adopters the chance to pick up a necessities or two before heading home with their newly adopted pet companion.
Dog crates, squishy beds and a variety of pet supplies will be part of the all-is-free collection.
The generous event is a show of gratitude to the community and a loving farewell, as Best Friends makes its West LA hub its main hub.
Eager to browse some of the perfect pets looking for a home? You can visit the Best Friends Animal Society site to see who you might meet when visiting Mission Hills Rescue Center over the weekend.
“Who needs the latest tech gadget when a pet can provide unconditional love and companionship? Adopting a dog or cat really is the ultimate gift for you and your family,” said Julie Castle , CEO of Best Friends Animal Society.
“Since many people have vacations during the holidays, this can also be a perfect opportunity to acclimate your new pet to your home and daily routine.”
Adoption fees during the holidays will be waived thanks to Embrace Pet Insurance.
“Many shelters are currently experiencing a crisis of overcapacity, which is putting more dogs and cats at risk of death simply because they don’t have a safe place to call home,” Castle said.
“Adoption is the most humane option when it comes to adding a pet to your life because not only are you saving that animal’s life, but you are making room for another. animal can enter the shelter.”
