As part of this achievement, Mushfield completed a Silver Award project, which involved helping the Humane Society of Midland County animal shelter.

Mushfield cleaned the flowerbeds and planted flowers outside the shelter; crafted 12 cat blankets, 50 cat toys with catnip, 100 dog shirts and 100 cat shirts; baked dog treats, painted paw prints on both sides of the front door; and baked cookies for shelter staff.

Additionally, Mushfield’s family adopted two cats from the shelter and his grandparents adopted a cat.
