Madison Business Pivots, Pedal Forward With Redesigned Food Tours
MADISON, Wisconsin. – It has been a difficult year not only for local restaurants, but also for businesses that depend on these restaurants to operate their operations, such as food tour companies.
Since 2012, Madison Eats Food Tours has worked with local restaurants, chefs and businesses to showcase the city’s eclectic food scene. But as restaurants closed last spring, the tour company also closed.
“After a year of racing at top speed, I was stuck,” recalls Otehlia Cassidy, owner of Madison Eats. “I had to take a step back and think, ‘What’s the next step? “
Like many small business owners, Cassidy has made a pandemic pivot: developing ‘Madison trEats’ take-out boxes as a way to share food safely with families and to support the struggling restaurant industry. . It helped a lot of local businesses get by, but it wasn’t the same. Although many restaurants were able to reopen, Cassidy was unable to relaunch her business.
“You can’t just say, ‘Okay, now we’re open and all of our tours are going,’” she explained. “The restaurants are not staffed. It is not possible.”
However, soon he will be possible. Madison Eats is relaunching its food tours on Sunday April 25… by bike!
