Ribbon cut from Trinity Financial host to mark completion of courthouse lofts: NEREJ

Worcester, MA Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito and a host of city and state officials joined Trinity Financial in a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the completion of the mixed-income housing development of Courthouse Lofts. The event also celebrated the opening to the public of the Marshall “Major” Taylor Museum, which honors the life of the first black cycling world champion, who resided in the city for 35 years.

Courthouse Lofts is the certified historic rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the old 214,000 s / f Worcester County Courthouse, originally built in 1845, in a new mixed-income multi-family residential community. Located at 2 Main Street, the courthouse redevelopment is part of a larger revitalization of the city’s historic Lincoln Square. district. Courthouse Lofts includes 118 new accommodation units in studio, one, two and three bedroom configurations. Community and resident amenities of Courthouse Lofts include on-site maintenance and management, media and games room, club room ideal for remote work and study, fitness center, backyard beautifully appointed, pet spa, children’s playroom, and outdoor play area and on-site makerspace.

I think Major would have been particularly honored today if he could have been here, to know that Worcester continues to honor its legacy with a museum so close to the Major Taylor statue and the library.

Courthouse Lofts’ vibrant lifestyle experience, the project’s unique approach to historic preservation, and the enthusiasm and interest around a revitalized Worcester town center have combined to produce great success for Trinity Financial and Trinity Management in leasing matters. As of October 1, the community’s 118 apartment houses, including 31 labor housing units, were fully occupied.

Courthouse Lofts has been funded by the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation, MassHousing, the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development, and State Street Corp, among others.
