The Humane Society of Marion County Helps Over 90 Dogs and Cats Find New Homes
The Humane Society of Marion County recently helped more than 90 of its protected dogs and cats find new homes in the first two weeks of May.
The Humane Society teamed up with the nonprofit Bissel Pet Foundation to help “empty the shelters” in an event that kicked off Monday May 2 and ended Sunday May 15.
According to a social media post from the Humane Society, 40 dogs and 54 cats were successfully adopted during the two-week period, and that number could increase once additional adoptions from the event are finalized.
Additionally, the Bissel Pet Foundation helped transfer 45 animals from municipal shelters and killing sanctuaries in hopes of finding these animals loving homes.
“We are so grateful to the Bissel Pet Foundation and the hundreds, if not thousands, of adoptions and transfers they have sponsored nationwide, and for helping us in our mission to prevent cruelty, animal suffering and overpopulation,” the Humane Society said on its Facebook. Web page.
The Humane Society has shared many photos showing pet owners who were happy to welcome their new family members:
