In January 2020, Greg Fischer, a Navy veteran living in Wind Point, was working at a financial services company.
Less than 30 months later, he’s quit that job, started his own barbecue business (and amassed over 10,000 social media followers thanks to it) and is ready for more growth as he is about to be shown on television across the country.
Fischer founded Burn Pit BBQ in August 2020 at his Wind Point home.
Burn Pit makes all-natural seasonings, seasonings, and sauces for grilling and cooking meats. It also sells Grill Masters themed clothing. Burn Pit’s product names reference military jargon, such as Fire in the Hole, Pogey Bait (a term for candy or candy given to soldiers), and Ground Pounder (slang for infantry soldiers). Burn Pit also now offers hot sauces. All of its sauces, seasonings and seasonings are made without cholesterol, MSG or corn syrup.

Burn Pit BBQ was selected for Qurate Retail Group’s Small Business Spotlight, an initiative now in its third year to strengthen diverse small businesses through increased exposure and other in-kind pro bono services.
Qurate Retail Group – which includes QVC, HSN (Home Shopping Network), Zulily.com and several other brands – uses its production resources, TV shows and digital platforms to help Burn Pit BBQ share its story with millions of consumers nationwide. The Burn Pit BBQ story began appearing on QVC and HSN’s websites and social pages in May 2022, and the company will be featured at noon and 6 p.m. on May 25 on QVC, and at 1 p.m. a.m. 55 and 7:55 p.m. on HSN.
Additionally, Burn Pit BBQ will launch its products through online retailer Zulily for the first time.
The featured event for May 2022 on Zulily.com is National Military Appreciation Month. Fischer served in the US Marine Corps from 2002 to 2006.
“We are very pleased to have been chosen for this opportunity,” Fischer said in a statement. “This projector will help share our Burn Pit BBQ brand and original sauces, rubs and seasonings with home grill masters across the country.”
Burn Pit BBQ can also call on Qurate Retail Group team members for advice on a business issue through a virtual mentoring initiative.
“Our Small Business Spotlight 2022 shares the extraordinary stories of diverse entrepreneurs who inspire and support their customers and communities,” said Suzanne Quigley, Director of Global Corporate Responsibility at Qurate Retail Group. “We are proud to be a part of their success by introducing these small businesses to our national audiences on our retail platforms.”
